I Love Fog

Jon Carroll took the words right out of my mouth.

I will never say a bad word about the fog again. I will never again whine about the summer afternoon cookouts with gray skies and a stiff wind off the ocean. I will never mourn the lack of crickets on a summer evening or suggest that the longer days of July do not matter much when the light is always the color of dark pewter.

I love the fog. I embrace the fog. When I woke up this morning and looked out the window and saw the flat grayness of the sky, I dropped to my knees and thanked the deity of my choice. The heat wave seemed endless....

i have always loved fog! it's my favorite weather setting! so much so that i just savored all the references to fog in eugene o'neill's "long day's journey into night" while in high school.

oh, i longed for fog when i was living in hot valley days as a child!

yes fog is BEAUTIFUL.
thank you for this post and reminding me of how wonderful those tendrils of cloud are.

when i see them ripping over the hills of the 280 and over the bay like cotton pulled over a pinecone, i feel like it's an army come to save me and envelope me.

Oh speaking of Long Day's Journey - I remember now that I wrote a paper on it arguing that the fog was the main character. I love fog except when I'm driving in it. I nearly had a heart attack returning from Pleasanton one foggy night. I couldn't see the freeway exit signs, the side of the road, nothing. Very scary!
